It was a pleasure to meet with you all during our Parent Teacher Conferences. I enjoyed sharing about your child’s learning and life in our fourth grade classroom. I am so proud that we had 100 percent participation by our families! Thank you for all your support and for taking the time to visit!

Here’s what we’ve been studying in Fourth Grade!

Math: We just completed our Unit 2 studies. We have learned and practiced multiple methods in multiplication (Place Values Sections Method, Expanded Notation Method, Algebraic Method, and the Short Cut Method).  These have helped us to multiply 2-digit, 3-digit and even four digit numbers!!

Social Studies: As we continue through our Government unit, we are learning and understanding many vocabulary terms.  We have read about what it is like to not have rights, and realize just how thankful we are for the country we live in. Below are a few photos of the class collaborating within their small groups to plan and create their own island government which included a map, flag and constitution.

Writing Workshop: We just completed our unit on Realistic Fiction. We learned and applied so much regarding what to think about and include in our narrative writing for both our Realistic and Personal narrative writing. We will now apply all that we know to create our final narrative piece all on our own. I can’t wait to read them!

Reading Workshop:  “The Tiger Rising,” by Kate DiCamillo, ended up being a book that definitely grabbed our attention! We truly became connected to Rob, the main character, and had many thoughtful and reflective conversations about the story. We learned that books can provide lasting pictures and feelings within us. Reading is fun!
