Update/Reminders: Week of Oct. 28

Outstanding Students! These are just three of many students from our fourth grade class who have displayed acts of perseverance, hard work and best of all kindness! Thank you Lauren, Natalie and Isaac for representing our class in a 5-Star citizen kind of way! We are proud of you!! Image may be NSFW.

Here’s what we’ve been studying in Fourth Grade!

Math: Unit 2 is underway, and we’ve been busy multiplying using arrays and area models. The class is quickly realizing how helpful it is to know our multiplication facts.  *Please offer your child the opportunity to access the Clever site (a link is located right here on our class blog under “For Students,” and “Technology for Kids”). Once your child logs onto Clever, they can access their Moby Max account and practice their Multiplication facts.  Thanks for encouraging them and please let me know if you need any help.

Writing Workshop: We are beginning our Realistic Fiction unit in writing. We are understanding how to develop and create a fictional character and conflict, as well as the importance of a good lead.

Reading Workshop: We are continuing our read-aloud of “The Tiger Rising,” by Kate DiCamillo.  We have learned ways to read intensely, and are now growing ideas about our characters. It’s neat to find patterns within out characters, or see how we can sometimes change our thoughts and perceptions about them.

An Important Message from our Principal and the Main Office: Due to parking limitations, parties are open to parents that are volunteering to support the party. Party Volunteers: Make sure you are background checked. Please keep younger siblings at home to allow for space in the classrooms. Volunteers can arrive 15 minutes before the party begins.
