Surprise Reader! We were excited when our principal, Mr. Waldie, stopped by to visit our classroom! Mr. Waldie read aloud the book, “Casey At The Bat,” by Earnest Lawrence Thaver. It was awesome book with detailed illustrations. We heard about how the main character, Casey, struck out while at bat and discussed how it is important not to be overconfident. Mr. Waldie helped us realize an important life lesson that we will fail in life way more than we will succeed and that it is “okay,” because that is the way we learn. I loved how the class made that connection to one of the class quotes that we frequently refer to which is, “Life is about making mistakes and learning from them.” I love that the class is embracing this concept and are feeling safe in our class to do just that.
