Update/Reminders: Week of Mar. 19

Field Trip: We attended Ecosystems Exploration Day 2018 and had a wonderful time being immersed in all things nature! It was a fun-filled day of discovery! Many thanks to the Outdoor Discovery Center for organizing such an interesting and thoughtful field trip!

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Thank you so much for attending our Parent/Teacher Conferences last week. It was so nice to visit with you all to share and celebrate the hard work and progress your child has made. Image may be NSFW.

Box Tops:
Our class was announced as the Box Tops Winning class this week!  Thank you for your help in collecting throughout the year. Those little Box Tops help to raise money for our school, and every little bit helps – thank you!

Here’s what we’ve been studying in Fourth Grade!

Math: Unit 6: Fractions –  The class did a great job on their unit test! I am pleased with their hard work and understanding and look forward to sending their tests home to you this week. We are now beginning Unit 7, which will compare fractions and help us begin to understand decimals.

Writing: Informational Writing – As we kick off this new unit, we begin by getting acclimated with all that we know about text features to help us gain an understanding of important parts we’d like to include in our own writing pieces.

Science: The class is enjoying our science unit about internal and external structures and how it affects the growth, behavior and survival of living things. We continue to enjoy our experiences while meeting in small groups, illustrating our findings, performing experiments and logging our findings.

Important Information and Reminders:

*Spring Break Vacation:  No school Friday, March 30 through Friday, April 6.  School resumes on Monday, April 9.

*Early Release Day: We will dismiss at 12:15pm on Friday, April 13. Please let your child know if you would like them to order a sack lunch that day.

*Book & Reading Log: Please remind your child to return their book & reading log EACH day to school.  They will have an opportunity to read during their Individualized Reading Time. I like to periodically touch base to listen to the children read and see if they have selected a “good fit” book.

*Homework: Reading: Read a minimum of 20 minutes every night.  Remember to log the time and pages on your reading log and return it to school each day. Math: 2 pages, twice a week.
