Reading
:  WOW!  I am so impressed by the excellent return rate of the Take Home Book baggies by our Kindergartners!  They are excited to read with our parent volunteers!  Thank you parents for your help and support by allowing your child the opportunity to read to you, practice their strategies and sight words, as well as instilling in them the pride and responsibility of being a reader.  A HUGE thank you to our many parent volunteers who have committed their time to help get this program off the ground for our kids!  We could not do this without your help and support.  The children are so eager and proud thanks to you, our families, both at home and volunteers at school!  Thank you!!

Handwriting
:  This week we learned and practiced the formation for the lowercase letters “h,” “b,” in connection to last weeks diver letter lessons.  We are nearing the end of our handwriting lessons, so I encourage continued practice at home, as we will be assessing how the children are applying their knowledge in the next couple of weeks.

Math
: We began Unit #4 this week, involving the partners of 10.  We also enjoyed learning how to use a break apart stick when figuring out the partners of a number.  The class was very excited to receive a two page homework for math this week.  Image may be NSFW.

Mystery Reader
:  Anthony was so very happy to have his dad come to school and be our Mystery Reader this week!  Mr. Fumarolo brought a special favorite of Anthony’s called, “Llama, Llama, Misses Mama,” by Anna Dewdney.  The children could relate to the main character who, like them, started the new school year with so many new and unknown things, but in the end love school and know that they will see their mamma’s at the end of the day. Thank you, Mr. Fumarolo, for sharing this great book that we all could connect with!

Super Stars of the Week
: The children have enjoyed their opportunity to have Kinder Cuddles visit each of their homes, and have especially enjoyed hearing all the fun adventures the children have had with Kinder Cuddles!  Next week we will begin round #4 of our Super Stars.  The class is eager for the next opportunity to be chosen to lead the class as our Super Star.  Please keep a look out in their home folder for a golden colored slip, so they know to look for a special read aloud book to bring back to school.  I cannot wait to see all the wonderful stories they bring to class!
