Clik here to view.Safety Drills: Safety is a top priority at Georgetown. We recently learned and practiced three types of drills, and what they look like and sound like. During our tornado, fire, and lock-down drills, our fourth graders did a great job! I appreciate their respectful ways and for taking these seriously, which helps to keep everyone safe.
Here’s what we’ve been studying:
Math: We completed Unit 1 and had our test this past week. We will soon begin Unit 2. It will contain multiplication. Please encourage your child to practice their math facts, as this will be helpful to them in the upcoming unit.
Writing Workshop: We have continued with our personal narratives, and learned how to think through a strong introduction and conclusion.
Reading Workshop: Your child may have shared with you that we had been reading, “Tiger Rising,” by Kate DiCamillo, during our Reading Workshop. We are enjoying the feeling of “getting lost in a good book!” The children are understanding how to become empathetic with the character(s), ask questions, and make predictions based off of what is happening in the story. The class is envisioning the story in their minds and enjoying it! Image may be NSFW.

Their hard work will pay off in a coupon for a Personal Pan Pizza at the end of month. Be sure to total the weekly/monthly time and return it to school at the end of the month. It will be exciting to see how many minutes they will have read each month!
