Dr. Seuss Makes Learning Fun!

Dr. Seuss is a master of rhyming and silliness!  We enjoyed reading and listening to many of his books.  We also had fun with word activities, making a craft and even bridged Dr. Seuss into our math!

mathMath:  We covered information about shapes, teen numbers using a base 10, as well as revisited break-apart sticks and number partners. We have also continued with our math mountains. The children are making connections that partners can be made with our tiny tumblers, as well as with our break-apart sticks.  There are so many different ways to make partners for a given number, and the children are finding it to be fun. 🙂

pencil bugWriting Workshop:  We completed our most recent unit on “How To” writings.  I am so pleased by how well the children have embraced and applied this writing.  They have so much to teach and share with one another!  From how to get dressed, to how to build a snowman, how to make a hot dog/hamburger,  how to order hot lunch, the topics were endless!  We did our final writing this week, and it is always such a treat for them to be able to finally “fix and fancy” their work.  Below are a few pictures of us celebrating and sharing our writing with our Kindergarten friends in Mrs. Bohl’s class.

assessmentAssessments:  We have been busy completing final assessments in preparation for our Parent Teacher Conferences.  I look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you!  🙂

book faceMystery Reader:  Ryan’s older brother, Tyler, gave Ryan quite a fun surprise when he stepped into our classroom as the Mystery Reader!  He is a second grader in Mrs. Ray’s class and he read a favorite book of Ryan’s called, “Goodnight Baseball,” by Michael Dahl. This was a perfect book for Ryan, because Ryan LOVES sports!  Thank you, Tyler, for visiting our Kindergarten room and for surprising all of us!
