Reading Workshop: Symbols of the USA: In honor of Memorial Day, we learned so many interesting facts about famous American symbols this week through non-fiction reading. The children were very interested and were like sponges when listening to our nonfiction resources! We learned many facts about our American Flag, the Statue of Liberty, the Bald Eagle, the Liberty Bell and the White House. They created a special booklet and are eager to share it with you! Be sure to ask your child about them all!
To culminate our learning of American symbols, we celebrated outside with red, white and blue popsicles! It was a welcomed cool treat on a hot day!
Mystery Reader: Taelyn was surprised and so very pleased that her mom came to visit our class a Mystery Reader this week! With the warm weather and the upcoming holiday weekend approaching, Mrs. Aikens was inspired to bring two special books connected to summer and vacations. She read “To The Beach!” by Linda Ashman, and “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Shell!” by Lucille Colandro. Both were rhyming books, and both were humorous! Thank you, Mrs. Aikens, for visiting and reading to us. We love books!
