Clik here to view.Reading: WOW! I am so impressed by the excellent return rate of the Take Home Book baggies by our Kindergartners! They are excited to read with our parent volunteers! Thank you parents for your help and support by allowing your child the opportunity to read to you, practice their strategies and sight words, as well as instilling in them the pride and responsibility of being a reader. A HUGE thank you to our many parents and grandparents who have committed to volunteer their time to help get this program off the ground for our kids! We could not do this without your help and support. The children are so eager and proud thanks to you, our families, both at home and volunteers at school! Thank you!!

Clik here to view.Handwriting: This week we learned and practiced the formation for the lowercase letters “h,” “b,” “n,” and “m,” in connection to last weeks diver letter lessons. We are nearing the end of our handwriting lessons, so I encourage continued practice at home, as we will be assessing how the children are applying their knowledge in the next couple of weeks.

We also had fun with math this week by joining with Mrs. Bohl’s Kindergarten class for a few math games and sharing of our small moment writings. The boys and girls enjoyed their time learning with one another very much!

Clik here to view.Mystery Reader: Briana was so very happy to have her grandma come to school on her birthday as our Mystery Reader this week! Grandma VanderPloeg brought a special book called, “Forget Me Not, Beautiful Buttercup,” by Michael Broad. When the class listened to how the little warthog was picked on for being ugly, the children could understand and verbalize right away that it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Thank you, Grandma VanderPloeg, for sharing this sweet book with a beautiful heartfelt message!
